Prepare your application
You can apply and pay for an e-Visa entirely online. For other types of visas (sticker visas), you must start your application online and attend an appointment at a Turkish Embassy, Consulate, or authorized visa application centre.
If you have dependents who want to come to Türkiye with you, each person must apply and pay separately.
When to apply
The earliest you can apply is usually:
e-Visas and Sticker Visas (at an Embassy): The earliest you can apply is 90 days before your planned travel date.
Work visas: at least 2 months before your employment start date — this timeframe is recommended by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security to allow for the processing of your work permit and visa
Student visas: at least 2 months before your course start date — this timeframe is recommended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure your application is processed before the start of the academic term
Residence permit applications for settlement (long-term stay) must be started after you enter Türkiye with a valid visa. You must travel to Türkiye before your visa expires.
How long it takes to get a decision
How quickly you’ll get a decision depends on the visa you apply for:
e-Visa: Usually processed instantly or within 24 hours.
Sticker Visas: Usually take between 15 to 30 working days.
Processing times may vary depending on the country you are applying from and the specific type of visa.
Fees
There is a fee for each visa. The fee depends on which visa you apply for.
Fees are the same for each family member, including children and infants.
Health Insurance
Unlike a healthcare surcharge, you must have valid private health insurance to cover the duration of your stay in Türkiye if you are:
applying for a visa to work, study, or join your family
applying for a residence permit to stay for more than 90 days
Your insurance policy must meet the minimum coverage requirements set by the Turkish government.
Applying for someone else
You can apply for a visa for someone else, such as a relative who does not have access to a computer or your child.
You must have permission from the person you’re applying for.
If the applicant is under 18, you must have written permission (consent) from both parents or legal guardians.
Always enter the applicant’s details into the form, not your own.
Medical certificates
If you are applying for a Work Visa or a Long-term Residence Permit, you might be required to provide a medical report from an authorized hospital showing you do not have contagious diseases (such as Hepatitis or HIV/AIDS). Check the specific requirements of the Turkish Consulate in your country before your appointment.
Change or cancel your application
If you need to change information on an e-Visa after it has been issued, you cannot edit it. You must apply and pay for a new e-Visa.
For sticker visa applications, if you want to change or cancel your application after it has been submitted, you must contact the Turkish Embassy or Consulate where you applied. Visa fees are non-refundable once the processing has started.
