Prove your identity
When you apply, you’ll need to prove your identity and provide documents to show you meet the requirements for a Turkish visa.
How you do this depends on the type of visa you are applying for and your nationality.
You’ll either:
apply for an e-Visa online: no appointment is necessary, and you will prove your identity by entering your passport details and uploading a copy of your passport’s bio-data page.
attend an appointment: for a sticker visa or certain special permits, you must go to a Turkish Consulate or an authorized visa application centre.
You will find out which method you need to use when you check if you need a visa and find the right visa for your circumstances.
If you need to go to an appointment
Visa application centres are run by authorized external partners on behalf of the Republic of Türkiye.
Because these authorized partners vary depending on which country you are applying from, you must check the specific instructions provided by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your location. You will be directed to the correct partner's website to book an appointment and provide your biometric information (your fingerprints and a digital photograph).
Booking your appointment
You may have to travel to your nearest authorized visa application centre. In some countries, these centres are only located in major cities, or you may need to travel to a neighbouring country if there is no centre in your own.
If you do not attend your appointment or prove your identity within the timeframe specified during your online pre-application, your application may be cancelled, and you will need to start a new one.
Children and minors
Under 18s: Children under 18 must attend the appointment with a parent or legal guardian.
Biometrics: Generally, all applicants must have a photograph taken. Fingerprinting requirements for young children may vary depending on the specific application centre's policy.
Standard and optional services
The standard service includes the processing of your application, collection of your biometric information, and the submission of your documents to the Turkish Embassy or Consulate.
Fees for standard services
There is a mandatory service fee charged by the authorized visa application centre in addition to the official government visa fee.
These fees vary significantly depending on the country you are applying from. In some locations, you may be required to pay the service fee at the time of booking your appointment, while in others, you will pay at the centre.
Providing your evidence
Depending on the specific requirements of the Turkish representation in your country, you may be able to:
upload your supporting documents online before your appointment
bring your physical documents to your appointment to be scanned and verified
The document checklist provided when you check if you need a visa will explain exactly what you need to provide.
Your passport
You’ll need to take your passport with you to your appointment. For sticker visa applications, the visa application centre or Consulate will usually keep your passport while they process your application. You will be told how and when you can get it back once a decision has been made.
Extra optional services
You may be able to choose to pay for extra services, although these vary depending on the Turkish representation or visa application centre you are using. Depending on your location, these services might include:
Premium Lounge: access to a more comfortable waiting area.
Courier Service: having your passport delivered to your home or office once a decision is made.
SMS Tracking: receiving updates on your application status.
The availability of these services depends on where you apply. Paying for optional services does not mean your application is more likely to be successful or that you will receive a faster decision.
What to bring to your appointment
The document checklist provided during your online application will explain what to bring. Typically, you will need:
your current, valid passport.
your printed and signed visa application form.
proof of travel insurance and financial means.
any supporting documents (such as an invitation letter or flight reservations).
The visa centre will usually keep your passport while your application is being processed. You will be notified when it is ready for collection.
If you are applying for an e-Visa
If you are eligible for an e-Visa, you do not need to attend an appointment.
You must upload a clear scan or photo of your passport’s information page.
You must ensure all details entered (name, passport number, expiry date) match your document exactly. Any errors may lead to your e-Visa being invalid at the border.
If you applied for someone else
If you are applying on behalf of someone else, the applicant themselves must still attend the appointment at the visa application centre to provide their biometric information.
