Overview

You can visit Türkiye as a Standard Visitor for tourism, business, short-term study (up to 90 days), and other permitted activities.

You can usually stay in Türkiye for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Depending on your nationality, you may be exempt from a visa, eligible for an e-Visa, or required to apply for a sticker visa at a consulate.

What you need to do
  1. Check if what you plan to do in Türkiye is allowed as a Standard Visitor.

  2. Check you meet the eligibility requirements.

  3. Check if you need a visa or an e-Visa to enter Türkiye.

  4. Apply for an e-Visa or a Sticker Visa - if you need one.

What you can and cannot do

You can visit Türkiye as a Standard Visitor:

  • for tourism, holiday, or vacation

  • to see your family or friends

  • for business activities, such as attending meetings, conferences, or trade fairs

  • for short-term education, such as a Turkish language course or a short internship (under 90 days)

  • to pass through Türkiye to another country (in transit)

  • to participate in sports or cultural events

  • for medical reasons (treatment in Turkish hospitals)

You cannot:

  • do paid or unpaid work for a Turkish company or as a self-employed person

  • stay longer than 90 days without applying for a Short-Term Residence Permit

  • claim public funds (social benefits)

Check you meet the eligibility requirements

You must have a passport or travel document that is valid for at least 60 days beyond the duration of your visa or visa-free stay.

You must be able to show that:

  • you’ll leave Türkiye at the end of your visit

  • you’re able to support yourself during your trip

  • you’re able to pay for your return or onward journey

Check if you need a visa to visit Türkiye

Depending on your nationality, you will fall into one of these three categories:

  1. Visa-Exempt: You can enter Türkiye with just your passport (or ID card for certain EU citizens) for up to 90 days.

  2. e-Visa: You must apply for an Electronic Visa (e-Visa) before you travel. This takes about 5 minutes to complete online.

  3. Sticker Visa: You must apply at a Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence if you are not eligible for an e-Visa or visa exemption.

Staying longer than 90 days

If you wish to stay in Türkiye for longer than 90 days for tourism or other purposes, you must apply for a Short-Term Residence Permit before your initial 90-day stay expires.
