When you do not need an e-Visa

You do not need an e-Visa to travel to Türkiye if:

  • you’re a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye

  • you’re a Blue Card (Mavi Kart) holder

  • you have a valid Turkish Residence Permit or Work Permit

  • you have a valid sticker visa issued by a Turkish Embassy or Consulate

  • you’re from a country that has a visa-waiver agreement with Türkiye

  • you’re a cruise ship passenger visiting a Turkish port city or neighboring cities for up to 72 hours (provided you stay within the designated area)

  • you’re transiting through a Turkish airport and you will not pass through border control — check with your airline if you are not sure.

  • you’re exempt from immigration control under international agreements or special legislation

Dual citizens

If you’re a dual citizen and one of your citizenships is Turkish, you cannot get an e-Visa. When you travel to Türkiye, you can prove your citizenship using:

  • a valid Turkish passport

  • a valid Turkish National ID card (if traveling from a country that allows ID-only entry)

You may have Turkish citizenship automatically if you:

  • have a Turkish parent

  • have acquired Turkish citizenship through naturalization or marriage

If you have a Residence or Work Permit

You do not need an e-Visa if you hold a valid:

  • Turkish Residence Permit card

  • Turkish Work Permit card (which also serves as a residence permit)

If you’re from a country that normally needs a visa but you hold a valid permit, you must present your physical permit card along with your passport at the border.

What documents you’ll need to bring

To enter Türkiye without an e-Visa (under a visa-waiver or permit), you must bring one of the following:

  • a valid passport (must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry)

  • a valid national ID card (only for citizens of specific countries such as Germany, France, Italy, etc.)

  • a valid Turkish Residence or Work Permit card

  • a valid Blue Card (Mavi Kart)

The document must be:

  • an original (digital copies or photocopies are not accepted at border control)

  • issued by a recognized government authority

  • valid at the time you travel and for the duration of your stay
